TINTAGEL Parish Council has agreed to purchase the Visitor Centre in the village.

Although the purchase has not yet gone through, the parish council is currently in negotiations with the current owners, Cornwall Council.

If the sale goes ahead, it would mean that the public conveniences at the visitor centre would also be kept open.

This news comes in light of the Cornwall Council review of public conveniences, which will see responsibility being handed over to parish councils.

Chairman of Tintagel Parish Council, Roger Wickett said: "We are very conscious of this in Tintagel, being a seaside parish, and we're very conscious of our own toilets. It means the toilets in the visitor centre, which were earmarked for closure, will now be retained."
