On Thursday, November 6, in Tintagel Cornwall County Councillor Glenton Brown opened the 28th Cornwall Hospice Care shop. Verity Barker, Retail Group Manager thanked the crowd of eager customers for supporting this Cornish charity. She explained that it costs approximately £5.3 million to meet the annual running costs of the county's hospice services — around 80 per cent of which has to be met from voluntary support through legacies, donations, fundraising, and shops income. They currently have 24 in-patient beds — 16 at Mount Edgcumbe and eight at St Julia's. Other services include lymphoedema clinics, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, complementary therapies and bereavement support. The Cornwall Hospice Care shop in Fore Street, Tintagel is keen to hear from anyone who can donate a few hours of their time to help in the shop. Please telephone Justine Cooke, shop manager, on 01840 770 190 or call in if you can support this local charity.
