HOPES are sky-high that this year's Tintagel 5K Family Fun Run/Walk and 10K Race Challenge on Sunday, May 31, will be one of the most exciting yet.

The event is not just a fun fancy dress walk/run event but also a challenging 10K road race as well as a day packed with entertainment.

Both races set off from Tintagel Memorial Playing Fields at 11am with registration from 9am at the Club House, which is also offering refreshments. The races and walks will take participants through the village and a beautiful coastal route.

The runs are, so far, being supported by The Tintagel Arms, who are providing a weekend of live music to raise money and The Cornwall Running Store at Wadebridge who are offering advice on footwear and supplying running numbers.

The day promises to be fun with entertainment for all the family. As well as the walks and runs there will be a grand opening of the new play area. There will also be a plant sale, car boot sale and tombola.

Money raised from the events will go towards a number of local charities including Cornish Hospice Care, Age Concern, Tintagel Memorial Playing Fields, Tintagel Primary School and Tintagel Surf Lifesaving Club.

On the Fun Run day, organisers will be joined by a team of enthusiastic massage therapists offering, for a donation, taster sessions of Indian Head Massage, foot and leg massage, reiki, reflexology and other treatments. Participants can have a pre-run warm up massage or a well deserved after event relaxing foot rub.

Supporters who are waiting for the runners to return won't be left out as they will be given the chance to treat themselves to a touch of pampering while they wait.

All money and prize donations will be gratefully received and can be posted to or dropped off at the Cornwall Hospice Care Shop, Fore Street, Tintagel, marked Fun Run.
