A LARGE congregation shared in the Cornish Carols Evening at Tintagel Methodist Church on Sunday, December 6.

The evening included items from the Tintagel Orpheus Male Voice Choir under their conductor Penny Barclay, accompanied by Alan Dawe, and the Allen Valley Singers conducted by Jan Mann and accompanied by Steve Tyrell. The choirs combined for three items which were well

received.

A large feature of the evening was audience participation in the singing of some traditional Christmas carols, and the Hallelujah

Chorus from Handel's Messiah on the occasion of the 250th Anniversary of Handel's death.

Rev Bryan Ede said: "It was an enjoyable evening. Some people were trepidatious about singing the Hallelujah Chorus from scratch but it went well."

During the evening a collection was taken for the work of the Cornish Hospices which raised £488. Tea, coffee and mince pies were served at the conclusion of the evening.
