JOHN Ayres, from BBC Spotlight, reported on the changes to funding for the concessionary bus pass users between Altarnun and Launceston. Local residents from Trevadlock Park, Bernard O'Neil and Pat Pauling along with Mrs Maureen Sayt from Altarnun raised the issue. Cornwall Council has changed the funding for free concessionary bus passes from 9am to 9.30am. Trevadlock is served by a once a day bus service which starts before 9pm as does the service from Altarnun. This leaves the residents with no choice but to pay for what was a free service. Conservative Cornwall Councillor Phil Parsons was invited to ride with the residents and the BBC reporter to listen to their views. "If you live at Tregadillett then you can have a free ride to Launceston and more than once a day service but not from Trevadlock which is further away," commented Bernard O'Neil. Certainly those in the rural areas are penalised as Launceston and the towns have a regular bus service. Cllr Parsons pointed out that there was a dial–a-ride bus service, The Little Red Bus, which offers a weekly pick up at very low price of 50p and all were welcomed to use it. He would be tabling a question on this issue at full Cornwall Council meeting next month.
