LAUNCESTON College has received a donation from Steve John, benefiting their Adventure Learning Centre garden area.
Mr John, who is the proprietor of Abbey Garden Machinery in Tavistock, donated a ‘tiller’ machine to the school, having renovated it himself, the purpose being to maintain the beds in the Adventure Learning Centre garden.
Carol Unwin, the leader of the wild and wooden spaces and horticultural gardens in the Adventure Learning Centre area, was apparently very pleased with Mr John’s kind donation. The machine represents hundreds of pounds worth of equipment, and the effort made by Mr John is very generous indeed, paying for the replacement of old parts at his own expense.
Joe Lally — who works at Abbey Garden Machinery and whose own children attended the school around 20 years ago — and Mr John both paid a visit to Launceston College, where they received a guided tour, and were shown how the school’s resources have been constantly developing the children’s learning.
There, they also met Caroline Reade, the Head of Adventure Learning, and Dave Egford, the Head of Expressive Art, who thanked Mr John on behalf of the whole school for his generosity and effort to help the school improve their Adventure Learning Centre garden area.
