CORMAC have been authorised to conduct a feasibility study into traffic calming in St Teath.

While the village waits for the study to be carried out, the Community Speedwatch group have been checking the speeds of vehicles going through.

At the beginning of May, the speedwatch was set up between the primary school and pre-school between 8.45am and 10am, and nine speeding vehicles, going over the 30mph limit were clocked.

Two days later, between 8am and 9am, 21 speeding vehicles were recorded.

Scott Mann, Conservative MP for North Cornwall, has welcomed news of the feasibility study approval.

He said: “This will enable the council to properly understand the issues in the village with speeding cars, and I’m now conducting a survey in the village to get feedback on the current traffic situation in St Teath.

“There is no easy way to getting funds and quick action when it comes to road alterations, and that’s why it’s important to continue to stress the case for traffic calming measures so we can ensure the safety of loca people and children.”
