THREE men accused of having assaulted a doorman at the Wellington Hotel, Boscastle, causing him actual bodily harm, were unanimously acquitted on Monday following a trial at Truro Crown Court.
Gary Naylor, aged 22 of Westground Way, Tintagel, Stuart Lee aged 56 of Stevenage and his son 22-year-old Robert Cahoon of Mossley, had denied assaulting Mr Martin Smith on March 30 last.
'GLASSES'
Mr Smith said he had followed the three men out of the hotel to retrieve drinks glasses in their hands and claimed that he was struck to the ground and regained consciousness with his head in a pool of blood. He suffered facial injuries.
Naylor said he had punched Mr Smith only after having been struck from behind and the other defendants asserted that they had not been involved in any kicking or punching.
