It was in 2019/2020 when the church in Tintagel started to plan their next flower festival.

Then as with so many other planned events everything had to be put on hold and it wasn’t until this year that they were able to restart the planning of the now 2022 flower festival.

Then suddenly people started turning up to St Materiana Church in Tintagel carrying armfuls of flowers and many other objects in order to create some wonderful displays. In all 24 different groups and organisations generously offered to put on a display so that by the end of the day the church was full of flowers.

The festival opened the next day and during the five days is ran thousands of visitors from all over the country and the world came and enjoyed the flowers and tea, coffee and cake afterwards.

A spokesperson said: “I think all our visitors had an enjoyable time and we had many, many very positive comments about the festival. Our visitors were very generous in their donations which are going to be shared between the church and Tintagel pre-school.

“I would like to thank everyone who came to the festival and also the many people who made it all possible — the flower arrangers, those who prepared and looked after the refreshments; those who cleaned and prepared the church and all who worked to make this the success it was — thank you.”
