THE recent closure of the A395 between Kennards House and Hallworthy — due to resurfacing work at Pipers Pool — has cost tens of thousands of pounds in trade, business owners have claimed.

Despite Cornwall Council releasing a statement to the contrary, traders on the busy road are maintaining the resurfacing works were poorly advertised and they were given no prior warning from authorities.

Owner of the Moorview Garage at Laneast, Mike Gerry, said that he received no advanced notification that the road would be closed for a fortnight.

For Mike's views and those of other business owners, as well as Cornwall Council, see this week's edition of the 'Post'.
