WITH windscreen wipers dancing and the radio blaring, it was a little worrisome travelling to Halwill Barton in heavy rain, for the 107th Camelford and District Agricultural Show on Wednesday, August 14. However, the memory of last year's cancellation was soon washed away, as traffic slowed to a steady flow to enter the showground. Soon enough the clouds brightened, and though the ground stayed sodden, the protection of welly boots kept hundreds of visitors smiling as they wandered from stall to stall, writes Natalie Venning.

A hidden flock of ducks quacked a noisy welcome to those entering the showground and the smell of noodles, chips and pasties wafted over from the trail of food vans by the main ring.

The drizzle of rain that threatened the skies was ignored by the many visitors who roamed across the fields, flocking from charity stalls to animal pens and from children's rides to local produce and craft stalls.
