THE Launceston N Gauge area group of railway modellers held its third yearly ‘All Gauges Exhibition’ in the Launceston Town Hall on Saturday, July 14.
Visitors saw a range of working model railway layouts from many parts of Devon and Cornwall and South Wales. There was a fine 009 layout of the Lynton Station, a large OO layout from Bodmin Rail Model Club based on the Southern and Western Region, a new local OO layout with working yard and turntable. There were N gauge layouts based on the Cornwall’s China Clay areas, together with a compact modern N gauge layout designed to go under a child’s single bed.
Many children were able to operate the OO Thomas layout from the North Cornwall and Devon MRC.
Visitor numbers were down by 30% this year, which was thought to be due to the sunny weather, football and tennis. The organiser, Les Whaley, was pleased with the support from five traders, exhibitors and helpers from North Cornwall and Devon MRC and friends, a special thanks was expressed to Launceston’s mayor Cllr Margaret Young and her team for a fine range of food, teas and coffee which were sold in the foyer along with help from Launceston Town Council staff.
