A COMMUNITY has been left shocked and saddened after thieves stole lead and caused damage to a newly refurbished village chapel. Since its refurbishment, Milton Damerel Chapel has had an increase in activity and members — it boasts a youth club and a new mother and toddler group meets each week.
Other activities include pilates and bible reading,It serves as a foodbank collection centre.
The Easter weekend, usually a time for celebration, brought 'worry' to parishioners who had to clear up and make repairs to the chapel roof after thieves stole lead, broke roof slates and left razor blades scattered around the building. Repairs are estimated to cost around £2,000.
