THOUGH the weather threatened to postpone the annual event, Black Torrington Summer Fair went ahead as planned on Saturday, August 4.

Umbrellas were at the ready and the dog show was moved inside the hall, but the sun shone on festivities.

Opened by the Bideford Youth Pipe Band there were many stalls, crafts and produce tents, a pets corner, as well as cream teas and a barbecue on offer for all that went.

Chairman of the fair, Jackie Nutt, said: "We had a golden day with the sunshine and no rain."
