HER Majesty the Queen's Diamond Jubilee ran through the 2012 Royal Cornwall Show like letters through a stick of rock from the Duchy, writes Keith Whitford, the editor.
The three-day event appeared determined to copy other soggy Jubilee happenings on the opening day (Thursday), with rain and strong winds which turned to gale force in the evening (See separate weather damage story).
The weather improved on the second day with the rain holding off but with the wind still causing major problems.
Both the Royal and Jubilee themes were aptly reinforced with the visit of the Duchesss of Cornwall, who flew to the county by helicopter before being driven in a convoy to the showground at Whitecross, Wadebridge.
