The Friends of Tenby Museum and Art Gallery are a small group of like-minded individuals who give their time and skills free of charge to help raise funds for the town's museum.

Since 1999, the Friends have raised the staggering sum of over £320,000 for the museum.

This has enabled the museum to purchase new items for the museum's collection, mount new displays, purchase new equipment (including computers), and fund specialist conservation work on items in the collection.

This has only been possible through the dedicated teamwork of the Friends' committee and will only continue if new volunteers come forward and replace those who have retired in the last couple of years.

Neil Westerman, honorary curator of the museum, told us that "in the current climate of cut backs in financial support for museums, the Friends of Tenby Museum are more important than ever to the museum. Their fundraising efforts make a real difference to the museum and enable us to do things we could not otherwise afford to do."

Can you help the Friends to continue their fundraising by giving your time and skills? As well as having the satisfaction of knowing that you are actively helping the town's museum to survive in these difficult times, you will also make new friends and possibly learn new skills.

If you feel that you can help, please come along to the AGM of the Friends of Tenby Museum and Art Gallery on Thursday, May 28, and speak to Janet Lewis or Les Crascall. The AGM will take place at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery, Castle Hill, Tenby, commencing at 7.30 pm.
