LAST SATURDAY the Holsworthy Memorial Hall was filled to capacity with the Elder Generation of Holsworthy residents who were there by invitation from the Holsworthy Rotarians, and presented with a 'strawberry tea', and what a splendid tea it happened to be.

First there were plates of sandwiches with a variety of fillings, then plates of fancy cakes of every variety with cream oozing out of them. Also plates of scones and jam with cream, and finally dishes of strawberries and cream, followed by steaming cups of tea or coffee.

Whilst the older generation were enjoying all this, a continuous flow of background music was provided by John Westaway and David Vaughan.

So much for the event, but what I wish to emphasize is the overall generosity of the Holsworthy Rotarians for providing such a tea, quite naturally accompanied by a veritable army of willing helpers in the kitchen who undertook the preparation and presentation of the tea itself, and not forgetting the 'waiters' who must have walked many a mile that afternoon.

We are all aware of the activities of the Rotarians, and the stirling work they undertake to raise money for various organisations for which we are very supportive, but I feel the need to express a very sincere word of appreciation to all those involved and say 'thank you'. It doesn't seem much to say, but I think the Rotarians will understand, we express our heartfelt thanks for what you offered us — The Older Generation.

Holsworthy.
