THE results of the hard work put in to bring the new Otterham and St Juliot Hall to fruition could be seen at its recent open day.

Several people had been invited to be there at noon so that chairman David Langley could say thank you to all on behalf of the committee. Val Gill was given a small token of appreciation for the years of form filling needed to obtain the grant from the Big Lottery Fund. Earlier this year she retired from the committee as she had moved. Val had brought Alison Gibson with her — Alison, on behalf of Cornwall Council, had offered invaluable advice and help which had resulted in the outcome all were gathered to celebrate.

There were messages of support from Ann and Ken Clarke, Margaret Kemp and Rose Tamplyn, all past members of the committee who have moved away.

The WI was able to show the entry for this year's Royal Cornwall Show where they had been awarded second place and the floral part of the display had won June Smyth the Nan Collier Plate for the highest marks — 20 out of 20.
