You may remember that a Fun Day was organised in Holsworthy on June 6, 2009, to raise funds for Help for Heroes and the St John and Red Cross Defence Medical Welfare Service.

I am thrilled to say that we have been able to donate £977.50 to each charity, as a result of the kind efforts and generosity of those who donated, supported and took part in the day. We still have some events to come, I understand, organised by other people but for the same cause, so I will keep you posted.

I have already had a lovely thank you letter from the DMWS, which pointed out that the funds are particularly helpful at this time, with so many more casualties coming home, which are not reported in the media.
