ON behalf of the 50 people who travelled with Hookways from Bude to Plymouth Pavilions on Thursday last, February 5, to see Riverdance and who were unable to get home that night due to the snow, can we please say thank you.

*To the lady who got up from her bed, opened her home to give us somewhere warm to wait and provided tea, coffee and biscuits (and cream eggs for the younger members). This was very much appreciated.

*To Andy and his partner who opened the Town Hall and stayed with us all night constantly concerned for our wellbeing and making us hot drinks during the night.  Many thanks.

*To the Police who found us blankets, fetched sustinence from Tesco (thank you) and offered their help to make us as comfortable as possible.

*To the St John Ambulance volunteers who stayed with us all night, and the NHS Ambulance staff who monitored our wellbeing.

*And to Craig, our young coach driver who remained calm throughout and did such a brilliant job of getting us back to Bude safely by 7.45am on Friday — 15 mins. before his tachograph ran out — a very sincere thank you.

The who operation demonstrated community spirit at its very best at a time of crisis and we are all extremely grateful.
