A HUGE crowd gathered in Holsworthy Square on Boxing Day for Tetcott Hunt's traditional meet.

It was kindly hosted by Nigel Kivell, the licensee of the King's Arms and proved a popular attraction for young and old alike.

Icy conditions for the two previous years made it too dangerous to take horses out, but there were no such problems this year said joint master Diana Stevens.

She said: "Every square inch seemed to be taken up by horses and followers.

"The turnout was the best for many years and among the riders was five year-old Lara Bird from Pyworthy on her pony Nettie. She was accompanied by her mother Andrea Shadrick.

"Her mother said later that Laura rode across the country like a true professional."
