FOR THE Holsworthy Agricultural Show 2009, ten of the Tetcott and Clawton WI members made a quilt as part of the WI competition and decided to raffle it, along with a baby quilt and various other prizes for Children's Hospice South West.

On May 19, Tetcott and Clawton WI held a coffee morning at the Holsworthy Memorial Hall with stalls, tombola etc, joint with the raffle, the group raised a grand total of £1,172. The prize winners from the event were: 1, J Ind; 2, A Siddall; 3, N and J Galton; 4, The Masters twins; 5, B Luff; 6, R Brittain; 7, R Todd; 8, S Fanson; 9, R Chubb; 10, B Nissan; 11, J Kousoulides; 12, T May and 13, P Trout.

The WI's June meeting (Wednesday, June 2), held in a marquee in the garden of the secretary's home, was their annual summers supper.

However, to the start the evening the WI welcomed Mr David Robinson (CHSW) and was pleased to present him with a cheque from the fantastic amount raised for the hospice and he told the group about the on-going work for the children.

The group then started the 'serious business' of enjoying a wonderful spread organised by Sandra and her husband Terry who acted as chef for the barbecue.

Members of the WI then enjoyed sweets including a chocolate fountain and the meal was completed with tea, coffee and mints, just as the light began to fail and the fairy lights that decorated the marquee came into their own.

The evening was then concluded with a vote of thanks to the evening's hosts.
