TESCO has told the Post it remains ‘committed’ to finding an alternative use for a site in Holsworthy that had been due to house the supermarket.
The Post has previously reported the firm was due to develop a store on the former livestock market at Underlane after receiving permission in January 2014.
However, in November 2014, the company withdrew its plans and put the site on the market.
The withdrawal provoked a mixed reaction from businesses and residents, but Tesco said at the time changing customer habits meant the store was no longer the ‘most suitable means to serve the local community’.
A Tesco spokesperson last week said: “We are actively marketing the site and remain committed to finding an appropriate alternative use for it.”
