Tenby and the choir will be featured on ITV Wales this evening at 8 pm. Comedian and actor Warwick Davies's new TV show Weekend Escapes with Warwick Davis follows Warwick and his lovely family over sixepisodes exploring the best holiday destinations in the UK championing the great British holiday. In this week's episode, Warwick sings with the choir down by the harbour. We had great fun in a mini-rehearsal with Warwick before the actual recording, and whilst I wouldn't like to say he found Welsh words difficult, I think its fairly safe to say that he won't be releasing a CD of Welsh songs in the near future. Once again, your local choir is putting Tenby in the spotlight and not in a small way!

Last week, we held a concert held for the Harriet Davis Trust which was a great success. There was an audience of about 150 people including some from as far away as Canada.

Development manager for the trust, Elizabeth Sleight, said: "We had a fantastic evening at a thoroughly enjoyable concert and are extremely grateful to the choir for the evening. Thanks to the choir and our own efforts, we have raised £670 for much needed refurbishments."

As I mentioned last week, the trust provides holiday properties suitably adapted to cater for disabled people and their families to enjoy a holiday by the seaside. With four properties in Pembrokeshire, including three in Tenby itself, it is worthy of support and if anyone wishes to donate to it or contribute in any way, please contact [email protected]">[email protected]

As well as the choir, we had a solo concert harp performance by young local musician Tudor Hurle which contributed to the evening immensely.

Elizabeth presented Tudor with a gift from the trust and also presented flowers to choir accompanist Jill Williams and something in a bottle to MD Ian (Wilbur) Williams, which he will no doubt be keen to share with the choir.

We didn't have a chance to get a photo of the choir on the night so the picture shown is one of the official 2015 choir photos taken in St. Mary's Church a few weeks ago. It was taken for our new CD which is due to be released very soon. Over the last few months, our MD Ian (Wilbur) Williams has been working with the technicians who are producing it to finalise the content. We are very proud of this new CD and hope that it will be very successful. This means though that we are down to the last few of the old CD now with only a handful left having sold around 2,000 copies. I recommend snapping up one of the last few as a collectors' item!

Our next concert is on Tuesday, May 5, at St. Johns Church and will be in aid of the NSPCC. Once again, this is a very worthy cause and we hope that as many people can support the choir, the charity and of course enjoy themselves The NSPCC 'believes that every childhood is worth fighting for.' I mentioned last week that one of the aims in our constitution is to promote Tenby and Pembrokeshire and another of those aims is to encourage and support local musicians. At this concert, we will be featuring a talented brother and sister partnership from Stepaside, playing between them the harp, piano and saxophone. I will give more details on this next week prior to the concert.

Choir membership is strong at the moment with our two new young members fitting in well but there is always room for more people to come and have a look at us. Being in a choir doesn't require great personal singing ability or knowledge of music, just enthusiasm really. If you join, it is true that over time you will learn more but most members learn most by 'joining in' and picking up the tune and their part in the arrangement by listening to those around them. Rehearsals are fun whether you are in them or watching them and will always end in the chance for a drink and chat in the choir bar at the County Club. Rehearsals are on most Tuesdays and Thursdays unless we have a concert on one of those nights. So come along, have a listen and discuss what it's all about with other members or just check out our website for contact details and different ways in which you can get to know more about it all.
