THE teddy bears and staff took part in a unique global tenth birthday party at Urchins Bear Shop in Tintagel.

A fantastic time was had by all, as teddy bear shops all across the UK, EU and as far as North America and Australasia all held a birthday party simultaneously, creating the largest global Teddy Bears’ birthday party ever.

The special occasion was lined up with lots of special treats for bear collectors and visitors to come and enjoy.

There was face painting, a best dressed bear competition, guess the name of the bear, pin the bee on Pooh Bear’s nose and raffle prizes. All proceeds went to the BBC’s Children in Need appeal.

The bear shop was also allocated a quantity of ‘DIESEL’, a special secret birthday bear created especially for the occasion, and lots of other new and unique Charlie Bears treats. All were only available to be purchased on the day from the shops.

The bear shop was open all day for customers to call in and say ‘hi’ to the bears and staff.

Many collectors also took advantage of the opportunity to have a photo taken alongside Barnaby, Rocky and the shop’s resident ‘head bear’, 6ft tall Napoleon.

The event had hats, games, competitions nibbles and other fun-filled things to entertain the party-goers.

An added opportunity was that the shop owners met the growing number of teddy bears collectors and enthusiasts from all over Cornwall, which is the home of Charlie Bears.
