TEN teams entered the first Holsworthy Bowling Club Charity Challenge on Sunday, August 19.

They came from a number of different groups and organisations.

The teams were: Waitrose Potatoes, Rotary Club (three teams) A,B,C, Holsworthy Social Club, Complete Kitchens, Holsworthy WI (Ruby Gems A, B), Sunshine, and PJ’s.

Each team played two nine-end matches of triples. At the halfway stage the leaders were Rotary Club C with 21 shots.

Holsworthy Social Club and Rotary Club A were six shots behind.

After the second, and final, round of matches, the joint winners were Rotary Club A (Geoff Cusick, Letitia Yetman and David Vaughan) and Holsworthy Social Club (Steve Eke, Sarah Eke and Anthony Andrews), both with a total of 29 shots. Rotary Club C were just outside the top two with 28 shots.

Each of the two winning teams were presented with a cheque for £150 from Holsworthy Bowling Club president Barrie Thomas. This was for their nominated charities Parkinsons UK (Rotary) and Different Strokes (HSC).

Midway through, a fine ham salad lunch was served together with desserts.

The bowling club were very grateful for the generosity of Waitrose in supplying the food and supplies for this lunch.

The day was a great success and all enjoyed themselves in spite of the rather dismall weather. When presenting the cheques, Barrie said that this will be an annual event and looked forward to seeing everyone next year.
