STUDENTS from the Jason Thomas Performing Arts School (pictured right) competed at the UDO South West Street Dance Championships last month in Torbay.

Nova, the under 10 street dance crew, kicked off the whole day and placed second in their category and Thunderground, the under 14 year crew, also placed second in their group. Both teams faced some incredibly tough competition and these placings were well deserved.

Both teams qualified for the UDO World Championships, European Championships and The 6 Nations Championships.

All the dancers then went on to battle through countless rounds in their solos and duos. Erin Wright battled through to the final in the under 12s solo section and placed 7th, Martha Yearby and Lily Johns placed 5th in their duo Under 10s and Isabelle Colwill and Lowen Midelton placed 2nd in their duo in the under 12s.

Isabelle and Lowen also qualified for the UDO World, European and 6 Nations Championships.

Their teacher Jennifer Bassett said: “We are all so incredibly proud of what our students have achieved in just a year. They train with such professionalism and determination and they truly deserve these accolades.”
