AN adaptation of the musical ‘The Wiz’ was performed by Boscastle Primary School.
Many people know the story of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ — ‘The Wiz’ is a version of the traditional tale in a modern style.
Dorothy’s adventures in the Land of Oz were set to music in a dazzling, lively mixture of rock, gospel and soul.
In Boscastle the best bits were taken from both musicals to perform an exciting adaptation starring the school’s talented young pupils.
Headteacher Sarah Duffy was delighted by the children’s performance. She said: “The standard of singing and dancing is fantastic; the children are so confident in both their solos and the ‘company dances’.
“We would like to thank Morwenna Gee for working with the children to create and practice their dances.”
Teacher Claire Oxenbury produced the play with help from musical director Ben Rix and the scenery and prop’s department led by Sara Haden.
Ms Duffy added: “This is a team effort with all of the Boscastle staff working together to support our children.”
