THE Ivor Potter Hall at the Parkhouse Centre, Bude, may be improved so that it can be used for a number of activities, including dances and lectures.

The hall was discussed at Bude-Stratton Town Council’s recreation committee meeting at the Parkhouse Centre last Thursday, where it was suggested that committee chairman Cllr Frank Partridge and town clerk Donna James arrange to look at the hall in terms of what the council could do now to improve its facilities, and what could be done in the future.

Cllr Partridge said: “I hope when it’s finished it would be left fit for all purposes — dances, lectures, with all the correct IT equipment, all sorts really.

“There will be things in the short term that we can prioritise and we can have other medium and long term improvements we can plan for over time.”

Cllr Alan Biggs advised the rest of the councillors to ‘seriously consider’ getting the help of an interior designer when coming up with a plan for how the Ivor Potter Hall should look if it is wanted for multiple purposes.

“I know from personal experience, that for a relatively small cost, the huge benefits using an interior designer can provide.

“If we’re wanting the hall to be used for a number of reasons, it is vital that things such as lighting and the colours allow us to do that and that’s the sort of expertise an interior designer will bring.”

The town council resolved that the chairman and town clerk look at the hall and set some short, medium and long-term objectives.
