AN EXHIBITION by Boscastle artist Jacqueline Jarvis can be seen at Camelford Gallery. The exhibition, entitled 'All in a Moment' is an opportunity to consider the things in life we may have taken for granted or do not give time to anymore. Mrs Jarvis is a painter and printmaker and has exhibited at regional and national level. Her work is based on the theme of the passage of time, whether it is a figure in motion or the continuously changing landscape. She said: "Calendar and clock time fascinate me as they are social constructs, yet they often define our perception of a passage of events. The exploration of this relationship informs my studio practise." Her work is thought provoking and reflective on how time affects us as individuals. She has studied the moon circle, earth movement and the modern Gregorian calendar, which encompasses social annual events and is cleverly expressed in her work. Several of her works give insight about a particular year by incorporating the solstices, equinoxes, new moons, seasons and nature and include, for example, when the first newt was noticed in the pond or the arrival of the swallows and their vivid displays across the moorland, while part of a ticket shows at that time where the artist made a journey. The exhibition runs until Saturday, September 23 from 10.30am to 5.30pm. For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
