The Year 6 tag rugby team from Stepaside CP School travelled to play at Lamphey CP School last week.
The tag rugby club takes place every Thursday, with Mr. Harries and Mrs. Waters coaching the Year 4 and 5 children and Mr. Aled Waters coaching the Year 6 children. Mr. Aled Waters is a former pupil of the school who attends Coleg Sir Gar, plays for Tenby and Carmarthen Quins and is a development officer with the Llanelli Scarlets.
The Year 6 tag rugby team performed very well in their two matches against a talented Lamphey team. The first match was won by Stepaside, with the second match being won by Lamphey.
Stepaside CP School were very grateful to the headteacher of Lamphey CP School, Mr. Simon Thomas for organising the afternoon.
The team will continue to train on a weekly basis in preparation for a tag rugby tournament that will take place before the Llanelli Scarlets take on Cardiff Blues on May 9.
The children will then be staying on to watch what is sure to be a very exciting encounter.
