Swine flu

'aggression'

at Lanson

From Jo Keogh and Joan Dinham:

My friend and I have been volunteer helpers at the 'Flu' clinics being held at the Launceston Medical Centre, on Saturdays.

The staff made every effort to ensure that everything ran efficiently and, in a practice having more than 16,000 patients, with a large percentage of those needing the vaccines, this was achieved. The majority of the patients were pleasant and satisfied with all the arrangements and everything went very smoothly.

To witness very few people being extremely aggressive and abusive to staff in reception was shocking. The issue was about a relative being denied the vaccine left us so angry that we felt we had to write to support all those at the medical centre and highlight this unreasonable behaviour.

The categories of people able to be given the vaccines are determined by the government not the staff. They have to uphold their instructions.

Surely it is time that we should all be supporting not abusing people who are just doing their job and, in our opinion, are doing it very well.

Launceston.
