AT THE recent District convention of the Lions of the South West, held at Croyde Bay, Lion Peter Rowe of Launceston was elected as 2nd Vice District Governor for the South West.
His year will commence on July 1, when he will be assisting the District Governor Lion Fred Broom from Crewkerne and 1st Vice District Governor Lion Ian Snell from Okehampton with the running of the District of 105SW, which covers Cornwall, Devon and most of Somerset.
He will be involved with the administration of the District as well as attending training and learning more about the great organisation of Lions Clubs International for when hopefully he becomes District Governor in 2018.
Peter has been a member of the Lions Club of Launceston since 1988.
He has attended most District Conventions and Multiple District Conventions and Europa Forums as well as seven International Conventions making friends across the country and world-wide. He has also visited Lions Clubs across the UK and in other countries.
Peter is active in his club and also at District and Multiple District level, and is very committed to the ethos of Lions Clubs International.
He was part of the convoy which took aid to Albania from the District for the refugees who had fled from Kosovo, during that conflict. He was also involved with the convoy of three seven-and-a-half ton trucks from Launceston, taking aid to Kosovo. Not satisfied with that, his next aid trip was to Belarus with books and equipment from the District.
