SUTCOMBE Primary School’s final summer fete is set to take place in the school grounds on Saturday, July 9, from 2pm to 4pm — and staff would like as many ex-pupils to visit the fete as possible.

Sutcombe Primary School will officially close from August 31, following a decision by Devon Council Council’s cabinet earlier this year, despite representation to the council by parents of pupils at the school who were against the school’s closure.

The fete will be a celebration of the school, which opened in 1877.

Some key events of the school’s long history will be remembered on the day, and old school ledger books will be available for people to have a look at.

Any money raised at the fete will be donated to the Sutcombe Church bell tower fund.
