A SERIES of surveys is being launched by Cornwall Council to address issues the public may have with parking in areas across Cornwall, including Bude.
The towns included in the survey have been selected to identify any issues the public, either as residents, business owners or visitors, have with parking.
The focus of the survey is around on-street parking issues, including residents’ housing and commuter parking, town centre short-stay parking and associated issues, including provision for businesses to load and unload, disabled parking and access for other road users.
Parking is one of the most common complaints received by the council.
Bert Biscoe, cabinet member for transport at Cornwall Council, said: “It is detrimental to the quality of people’s lives that they are so wound up about where they will park. These surveys are trying to find out how we can manage traffic better and ease that tension.
“We also want to see if we can support town centres by finding ways of providing on-street parking.
“Your views are important to helping to shape the parking proposals in your town; so please let us know, not just what’s wrong, but how you feel about parking in your street and town.”
The surveys will be carried out between this week and midnight on February 28. The results will be used for parking proposals for the towns that could be implemented as early as autumn 2017.
The results of the survey will be presented to the council’s transport policy advisory committee in May 2016.
WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff will be carrying out the face-to-face surveys in each of the survey towns between February 10 and 24, and will be collating and analysing the survey responses on behalf of the council.
The surveys and more information can be found at www.cornwall.gov.uk/parkingreview
Paper copies will also be available at Cornwall Council one stop shops and libraries or on request by email: [email protected] or phone: 0300 1234 222, letting the council know which of the three survey questionnaires you need — resident, business or non-resident.
