CookWORTHY Forest, Beaworthy, in perfect summer weather was the idyllic setting for a food and drink event last Thursday (September 2), organised jointly by the Ruby Country Partnership and Food and Drink Devon, writes our Holsworthy correspondent Christine Williams.

It gave some 30 local producers of food, drink and other country crafts the opportunity to showcase their goods as well as offering the public the chance to see, sample and buy a mouth-watering variety of produce. It also gave local businesses such as hotels, bed and breakfasts and restaurants the opportunity to source new products for their menus.

This was the first food and drink event since the Ruby Country Partnership moved to its new headquarters at the Cookworthy Forest Centre. Visitors were welcomed by Su Beswick, Food and Drink Devon network co-ordinator, and by Cllr Barry Parsons. He said everything was now coming together for the Ruby Country Partnership which was now sustainable in its own right. He then provided entertainment by singing songs from the shows!
