The application, submitted by Mr Parsons, seeks permission for the development, including affordable housing, with all matters reserved, other than access. There was a change to the highway access only, since the application was originally submitted.
Camelford Town Council discussed the application at last Thursday’s meeting, with Cllr Andy Shaw saying: “This is the second time we’ve discussed this. In general we’re in favour of it but the access off the site was the biggest bone of contention.”
He said the application included a change to the site access, and if it made the development safer, he couldn’t see why it would not go ahead. He noted that Highways had raised no objection.
However, Cllr Peter Guesford said: “I still object until there’s an improvement on infrastructure. At the end of the day we can’t cope with any more houses.”
Cllr Michael Coombes asked who will live in the houses, but mayor, Cllr Rob Rotchell said the developers have assured them that the market is there. However, Cllr Guesford claimed the most recent development in the town is still half empty.
Cllr Shaw proposed no objection. This was seconded by Cllr Sue Elford. Eight councillors voted in favour with one against.
The final decision will be made by Cornwall Council plans committee.
