I RECENTLY spent some time in hospital as an inpatient and was then discharged to Great Western Court in Gloucester.
I admit to being anxious before I went there but my worries were groundless.
The staff are unfailingly kind and helpful while encouraging us to do as much for ourselves as possible.
Our main meals were prepared for us but we got our own breakfast and cups of tea and coffee, both for ourselves and our visitors.
When I was discharged I was pleased to be headed home at last but truly sorry, in one way, to leave this happy and caring place.
This is a resource which I am sure many, especially here in the Forest, do not know about, and it is one which we should try to safeguard as it offers such a 'home from home', half way between the hospital and returning to being independent in our own home.
My confidence was very much restored after my stay in Great Western Court due to the care and attention of the staff and the friendly surroundings.
