THE Hurdon Residents’ Association and supporters recently gave up their Sunday morning for a little pick, in an effort to help clean up the estate recently.
The group tidied up the estate and the road in front of the Lidl store to make it a more pleasant environment for local people.
Liberal Democrat Cornwall Councillor, Jade Farrington, said: “The association applied to my community chest fund to purchase litter picking equipment, and I now help them carry out regular clean ups on their estate.
“Happily, there seemed to be a lot less litter than usual, but, as ever, there were loads of cigarette butts. The filters clog up the drains and can help trap leaves and larger pieces of rubbish, which results in flooding.
“If you smoke, then please put your butts in a bin after extinguishing them properly instead of chucking them on the floor.”
