DESPITE heavy rain overnight, the going remained ‘good to firm’ for the Gliddon and Squire Cross Country League meeting at Shebbear College recently.
In fact, the sun shone throughout the morning, as over 250 runners from all over North Devon competed in the 12 races around the college grounds, cheered on by hundreds of friends and family.
There were a good number of Shebbear College runners competing throughout the morning, and Shebbear was not without its share of success. There were victories for both Eevee and Eliza Banbury, the U19 ladies and U15 girls respectively, and an excellent 3rd place finish for Alfie Sealey in the U19 boys’ race.
The full Shebbear College team included Katherine Huxtable, Alfie Sealey, Albert Odlin, Ben Clewley, Tom Clewley, Felix Bennett, Millie Wivell, Rosie Forwood, Bethan Molnar, Cameron Watt, Thalia Saltmarsh, Jessica Prichard, Sophie-May Luxton, Emily Forwood, Eliza Banbury and Eevee Banbury.
The event was expertly organised, once again, by Mrs Fiona Goode and her army of helpers, including parents, staff and a number of Sixth Form students.
Due to the help from these volunteers, the course was safely and effectively marshaled, and runners and family members alike were all well fed and watered.
