TREKNOW had a lovely sunny afternoon for the re-opening of the refurbished Village Hall recently.
Melville Rowe officially re-opened the hall and lots of families came to view the lovely interior and join in a fun afternoon. Villagers came in to enjoy tea and cakes, and put in entries for the childrens art competition before a mystery 'Trek Around Treknow.'
The walk took in the lovely lanes of Treknow, across fields and up onto the cliffs. A spokesman said: "It was really wonderful to see so many people walking out together in the sunshine."
Villagers returned to the hall for more well earned refreshments and to join in with Rainbows games, felt making demonstrations and buy tickets for the raffle. Top raffle prize won by Les and Angela Freke was dinner for two at the Mill House Inn at Trebarwith and winners of the childrens art competition were: Hannah Slade (under 5s), Kathleen May (5-8) and Ethan Hall (8-12).
Treknow has a strong community and there are many local groups using the hall. The refurbishment will set the hall up well for continued use by the Treknowans, the Treknow Village Garden Club, Brownies, Rainbows, Craft Group and the annual Treknow Panto, and will hopefully encourage more groups to come and use it.
The hall is run on a voluntary basis by a management committee and all the costs of running and maintaining the hall are met through renting it to local groups and fundraising, in particular the annual Treknow Fete which will be on Saturday, August 29 this year.
The hall still has availability for more bookings and the management committee would like to encourage other groups or individuals to book it. For more details, please contact Stuart Patterson on 01840 770631.
