SUMMERLEAZE beach, Bude failed the legal minimum water quality standard, the Marine Conservation Society announced on Friday in its annual Good Beach Guide. Out of 192 beaches tested in the South West, Summerleaze was one of three beaches to fail the minimum water quality standard. One hundred and thirty nine beaches in the South West were MCS Recommended, including Hartland Quay, Sandy­mouth, Crooklets, Trebar­with Strand and Polzeath.
