BUDE Police has issued some safety advice for locals and holiday makers this summer, during the busy holiday season.

At this time of year, the population of Bude increases dramatically with holiday makers looking to enjoy all that the town has to offer.

Camp sites will be full and beaches swarming with people, looking to make the most of their summer holidays. Bude Police have released their top tips on how to keep safe during the holidays.

When out and about, it is advised to keep a mobile phone handy in case of emergency; it is vital to pay close attention to sign posts if you’re unfamiliar with the area. It’s also advised to try not to carry large amounts of cash, and to keep a drink with you at all times when at a pub or club.

It is also important to carry a torch when walking at night; Cornwall has a potentially very dangerous coastline when walking in the dark.

To keep vehicles or caravans safe and secure, it is important to remove all valuables from the vehicle, or keep them out of sight. Windows should be secured when leaving the vehicle unattended, including the sunroof. When using a sat nav, it is advised to wipe off the marks left by the suction disks. Rings in windscreens can provide evidence that there may be a sat nav inside.

Bude Police have also encouraged those travelling on the roads to be aware and keep patient when it comes to agricultural vehicles making their way around the area.
