AN ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating is being celebrated by a local childminder.
This is the third Outstanding Ofsted outcome for Sue Soddy, who lives at North Petherwin. She currently cares for eight children between the ages of seven months and nine years, offering full day care as well as before and after school care.
She started childminding in 2006, and received inspections by Ofsted in that year, in 2010 and in November 2015.
Sue’s childminding setting has been described as ‘Outstanding’ each time by Ofsted.
She said: “I am really thrilled that I’ve received Outstanding throughout the ten years I have been childminding and feel it’s something to celebrate.”
Sue, who has two teenage children herself and described working with children as her ‘passion’, added: “I worked as a laboratory analyst for eleven years after leaving Launceston College. I left there to have my own children. Then after working with children in a local nursery for a year I decided to set up my own childminding business as I felt very passionate about good quality childcare.
“It really means the world to me to receive this rating from Ofsted, it’s a real personal achievement and because of it I have also been very fortunate to work with the Cornwall Early Years team as a mentor for newly registered childminders, which I thoroughly enjoy and will continue to do alongside my childminding.
“My aim is to provide the best possible childcare to help give children the best start in life.”
