THE St Giles-on-the-Heath Women's Guild Summer Fete, which was held on Saturday, was held in aid of the Devon Air Ambulance and The Memory Café.
The fete was a huge success with lots of local people coming along to support both the wonderful charities. The fete was opened by Angie Harris, co-founder of the Memory Café and Janet Rattenbury from Devon Air Ambulance. They both spoke about the work the charities do and how important it is to the local community. They were then presented each with a corsage from Ruby Andrews and Daisy Pickbourne who attend the St Giles Playgroup.
There were a number of stalls selling homemade cakes, groceries, plants, bric a brac, a tombola, and we had a large raffle. Also a 'Weight of the Cake' competition, which was won by Florrie Hodge. Tea and coffee was served as well, with sandwiches and cakes.
Both charities also set up there own stall with information and merchandise to sell. Approximately £400 was raised, including several donations.
"A big thank you to all the helpers and everyone who supported us — it was a wonderful afternoon," said Trish Shanks, from the guild.
