Pencarrow Gardens came alive again after the winter break, when visitors arrived in large numbers to see the first signs of spring at the annual Pencarrow House and Gardens Charity Snowdrop Weekend.
There to greet them were members of the household and volunteers from The Friends of Pencarrow alongside helpers from this year’s two partner charities: The Pearl Exchange and Clear.
After donating to these worthwhile causes, there was plenty to entertain young and old who were free to explore the extensive grounds with their carpets of snowdrops and crocuses, browse in the bookshed and treat themselves to delicious lunches, before buying potted snowdrop plants and home-baked cakes to take home.
The event preceded a busy season for Pencarrow. The gardens reopen on March 1 whilst the House will open again for tours from April 2 when there will also be a cake sale.
Amongst other events taking place will be the very popular Bluebell and Garlic Sunday on April 30 followed on May 28 by a Teddy Bears Picnic where families will be invited to bring along a picnic and a Teddy Bear.
Details of all these events and others will appear on the Pencarrow website: www.pencarrow.co.uk
