BUDE Town Football Club celebrated one of the most successful seasons in recent times with their end of season dinner, dance and presentation evening at Bude Golf Club, writes Gary Hodgson.

After a superb three course meal we got to the presentations, starting with the trophies decided by the committee members. 'Supporter Of The Year', for the second year running went to Gordon Brown, 'Most Promising Player Under 21', was close and went to Billy Hopcroft and Josh Allen, and 'Club Person' was Julie Hodgson.

Next up was the team managers and they had a lot to celebrate with the first team getting promoted from the East Cornwall League Division One on the last day of the season, and the reserve team were also promoted, to the North Devon Senior League and were two points from winning the league. The ladies who had gone up a league last season had a superb season finishing a creditable fifth.

Ladies manager Aaron Westlake stepped up first and presented the 'Ladies Players' Player' and 'Manager's Player' to Leona Marsh and 'Most Improved' to Reanne Westlake. Reserve team manager Ian 'Oz' Marks said a few words before announcing the 'Reserve Team Players' Player' as striker Stevie Thompson with the 'Manager's Player' going to fellow striker partner John Clayton.

The first team manager Adrian Warburton congratulated all the senior teams on their success and then presented Billy Hopcroft with the 'First Team Players Player', and 'Manager's Player' went to first team captain Wayne Cornish. Goalkeeper Gary Dinshaw collected his 'Supporters Player' award, and Richard Pinkus presented his 'Club Player' which this year went to Gary Hodgson.

Thanks went to Jenny Prideaux for running the canteen, Ann Hill for her work behind the bar, Esme Cornish for her kit washing skills and Julie Hodgson for organising the night. The club would also like to thank the Golf Club for hosting the evening and Dan Smith for his superb disco. Hopefully next season will be just as successful.
