THE Moorland Art Group held its 36th art and craft exhibition in St Nonna’s Church hall, Altarnun, from July 22 to July 30, a week earlier than usual.

The exhibition was attended by many of its loyal supporters. Unfortunately, some were unable to attend this year for various reasons. Thanks have been extended all who have supported the group by visiting the exhibition this year and in previous years.

The hall looked extremely pretty, with vases of beautiful flowers and foliage grown by the members. A particularly impressive entry was the gladioli, grown once again by Carol Francis and arranged by Elizabeth Prince and Carol.

The artists exhibiting this year were Pam Kempster, Margaret Harrison, Liz Gregory, Garry Ballam, Angela Hooper, Sue Martin, Brenda Murphy, Dora Reed, Janet Ford, Carol Francis and Jenny Holt.

There were an abundance of delightful paintings in various mediums and subjects from land and seascapes, to flowers and animals.

There were many cards available, some handmade and hand painted, and many printed from their original paintings.

Sue Martin, a new member, provided the group with some beautiful cards made from pressed flowers, along with a great variety of handmade buttons. There were also miniature pictures made from seashells and sea glass.

Pam Kempster had miniature watercolours, tapestry cushions, fragrant lavender bags and many handmade and printed cards. Jenny Holt had her painted slate phases and coasters, ceramic trinket dishes, seashell and feather mobiles, hand painted and printed cards and gift tags.

Dora Reed provided jewellery, hand painted vases, seashell and drift wood embellished mirrors and some very cute knitted toys, not forgetting her cards.

Liz Gregory made some amazing papermache bowls, hand painted notebooks and some bird and local scenery fridge magnets, whilst Brenda Murphy and Margaret Harrison provided printed cards.

Stuart Kempster provided another beautiful calendar for 2018, using some of the group’s artists’ work.

The charity that the group supported this year is Cornwall Hospice, and they have a cheque for £213 winging its way to them. This money is raised by donations and a daily raffle. The raffle prizes consist of a painting of pieces of craft, donated by the members.

The winners of the raffle this year were Jenny Holt, Lyn, Pat Dixon, Annie Golding, Mrs Winter, Sioux Jones, Joan Williams, Elizabeth Prince, Pippa and Helen Naylor.
