A NUMBER of residents from the Post area have enjoyed success in this year's Cornish language examinations. The Cornish Language Board, set up in 1967 by Gorsedh Kernow and the Federation of Old Cornwall Societies, has announced the results of the candidates who took their exams in June. Ashley Taylor, of Launceston, and Sarah Broome, of Callington, completed their first grade; Sharron Wormald, of Launceston, second grade; and Tony Burt, of Camelford, and Peter Harwood, of Stratton, fourth grade. Grand Bard of Cornwall Maureen Fuller said: "The Cornish language, Kernewek, is one of the foundation stones of Gorsedh Kernow, and I heartily congratulate all those who have worked so hard and have now received the good news of their success. "Thanks must also go to our hardworking Bards on the language board who set and mark the exam papers and the wonderful teachers, many of whom are also Bards, all around Cornwall and beyond, who give so much of their own time to help their students learn Cornish."
