Zena Barker and Kenny Hosegood, together with grandson Miles Machen from Rydon Archers, Holsworthy, recently competed in the Devon and Cornwall Archery Society Grand Day at Exeter School. Kenny, having only picked up a bow 12 weeks previously, was able to take 8th position out of 41 competitors in the national round winning the Silver Salts Novice Trophy and Medal. Miles, also a novice of 12 weeks, managed to win 1st position in the Under 14's Junior National winning the shield and medal. Zena Barker was 1st lady in the national round winning the Silver Quiver Trophy and Medal. Zena's score was also added to the Devon team score, who beat Cornwall to take the Buckland Abbey Shield.
